Pinhole Leaks at the River – San Antonio, TX
The Problem:Within view of the famous Tower of the Americas on
the San Antonio Riverwalk, this hotel was regularly
experiencing pinhole leaks in it’s hot water piping
system. The leaks were expensive as rooms would
have to unexpectedly be shut down for repair and
remain closed until the water damage could be

The Problem:Dr. Rabinowitz’s vintage home with “state of the art”
galvanized piping for its day, was in desperate need of
pipe restoration. Low water flow, floating debris in water
glasses, and “brown water” led Dr. Rabinowitz to contract
E.L. Smith to solve his problem.
Water samples were taken to the San Antonio Metro
Health District Laboratory for analysis prior to beginning
the ACE DuraFlo process. Dr. Rabinowitz’s drinking water
showed high iron content and measurable levels of lead.
The Solution:After E. L. Smith completed their restoration process, a
water sample was rushed to the lab for another analysis.
The results exceeded even the doctor’s expectations.

Westin, La Cantera Resort
Failing Copper Pipes - San Antonio, TX
The Problem:Westin’s La Cantera Resort in San Antonio was built
in 1999 and ranked #2 on the “Top 30 Resorts in North
America” and is also rated among the “Top 50 Golf Resorts
in the U.S.” by Conde Nast Traveler. But somewhere
lurking behind all this grandeur was a problem. The
problem showed up in a 1¼” copper supply line in the
Clubhouse area, as a pinhole leak. A pinhole leak? After
just 2 years of service?
A repipe would have meant tearing apart walls and ceilings
and canceling events in the Clubhouse. Repiping was not
an acceptable alternative; the developer and the owner’s
of the property went looking for a solution. They did not
have to look far as E.L. Smith Plumbing had the answer,
in-place pipe restoration using the ACE DuraFlo system.
The Solution:It was concluded that the culprit causing the problem of
the deteriorating copper pipe was the local water and
its corrosive chemistry. The solution was to protect the
copper pipes by using the ACE DuraFlo system of in-place
pipe restoration. The restoration of the 120 foot corroded
copper line was completed without tearing up walls or
ceilings and the Clubhouse area was not shut down. The
pinhole leaks were sealed, the pipe was protected from
